Cowie continued their unbeaten run in 2019 with a comfortable victory over Stoneywood in the league today.

With the pitch in good condition despite the recent frost and rain, it was the wind blowing across the pitch which was making it hard to try and play any decent football.

Cowie took the lead after 20 minutes when BUCHANAN turned and hit a shot from 25 yards into the top corner which left the keeper with no chance.

5 minutes later it was 2-0 when a great team passing move landed at the feet of GAZELLE who volleyed into the bottom corner from just inside the box.

Cowie made a slow start to the 2nd half as Stoneywood pushed 3 up front to try and get back into the game but Cowie made it 3-0 with 20 minutes to go when a shot from Buchanan hit the underside of the bar and CRAN was there to tap home from 2 yards.

After this Cowie took control and had several chances to extend their lead, especially when Lovick somehow missed from 3 yards, but couldn’t add to the scoreline and Stoneywood scored in the last minute as a long throw was headed home for a late consolation.

Not a great performance but the conditions played a part in that and it was more than enough to get the 3 points and move closer to the league leaders.
