Cowie Thistle 6 - 0 St Marnans
Another cup game, another Cowie victory, though this time a lot more comfortable than last week!
With the visitors happy to sit in and defend, rarely venturing into the Cowie half, it was a struggle to break down the organised St Marnans defence in the first half and it was actually goalless at half time with few chances to report despite Cowie having most of the possession.
Cowie just had to be patient in trying to open the scoring, knowing that once they did the game would open up and 5 minutes after half time took the lead when McDonald did well in the box, his shot was parried by the keeper and NICOLL reacted first and slid in to score.
Cowie then went on and controlled the rest of the game with BADGER scoring with his first touch in the 60th minute when put through by Lovick then on 65 minutes it was 3-0 when a cross from Badger fell to SMITHY on the edge of the box and he finished into the top corner.
Making his first start of the season after injury, McDONALD then scored 2 goals in a minute, slotting past the keeper when one on one, again after a Lovick assist and then scoring the goal of the game when from fully 30 yards out he rocketed one into the top corner with his left foot.
The scoring was completed in the last minute when Mr. Goals GAZELLE headed home from a Nicoll cross.
A very good performance, working hard to break down a team that had come to defend and taking full advantage in the 2nd half.
