Sportsmans 7 - 4 Cowie Thistle
Cowie run of playing last seasons top 3 in a row, ended in defeat tonight in a goal filled game, which despite the torrential rain during the day the pitch was in perfect condition for football.
Cowie somehow found themselves 3-0 down at halftime, despite the fact they hit the bar and both posts and missed a couple of great one on one chances.
Cowie came out flying in the second half and within 15 minutes the score was 3-2 and looked like only one winner, however as Cowie pushed they conceded 4 goals in the last 10 minutes with some poor defending. 2 late consolations in injury time added a fairer refelection to the score line.
A tale of missed chances at one end and gifting goals at the other but credit to Sportsmans who were clinical with the chances presented to them. Another lesson to be learned for this young team but plenty of encouraging signs for the season ahead.
Next game is another league game at home to Ellon on Saturday
