Following recent disappointing results Cowie knew that getting 3 points today was a must and unlike Wednesday when we conceded in the first minute, we actually scored in the first minute this time when a long ball by Cran was missed by the defence and R COZZY ran in behind to lob the keeper.

The great start continued when in the 3rd minute it was 2-0, R COZZY intercepted a loose pass on halfway and ran through on the keeper to score.

For once this season we didn’t concede straight afterwards! However Rattrays did pull a goal back in 20 minutes when a free kick from the edge of the box was finished well into the far corner.

Any worries that goal would affect the teams confidence were eased 5 minutes later when R COZZY scored his hat trick with a dipping shot from outside the box that had the keeper well beaten.

Right on half time Cowie made it 4-1 when a poor headed back pass from the defender allowed A COZZY to run through and again lob the keeper.

Knowing Rattrays would come looking to get straight back into the game after half time, Cowie withstood the early pressure but conceded in 55 minutes when Gazelle tried to head clear a cross but only succeeded in putting the ball in his own net, some finish, we blame the hair!

Cowie went straight up the park though and made it 5-2 when Buck laid the ball off for OLDROYD to score his first goal for the club with a low finish from the edge of the box.

Cowie saw out the rest on the game comfortably enough, conceding another from a set piece with 10 minutes to go but the result never looked in any danger, also managing to keep 11 men on the park for once!

A great team performance, first half especially, with the lads digging in on a terrible pitch when they had to, making sure we got our first win, hopefully this kick starts our season!
