Cowie Thistle 4 - 0 Old Aberdonians
Cowie got back to winning ways this afternoon with a comfortable victory to go through to the next round of the Premier Trophy.
With 12 players missing Cowie were forced to make numerous changes to the team but it made little difference as they took the lead after 10 minutes when Ronan Masson headed in a Cran corner at the back post. Cowie controlled the rest of the first half without creating any real clear chances but playing good football and never looking like conceding either.
It was 2-0 after 55 minutes when a cross from Gazelle was palmed by the keeper to Gandhi who finished the rebound and it was 3-0 5 minutes later when Smithy volleyed home from the edge of the box.
Old Aberdonians had a couple of half chances in the 2nd half but never really troubled 5th choice keeper Robbo apart from one shot from 35 yards which hit the bar and bounced out.
Cowie scored the final goal of the game 5 minutes from time when Gazelle played Gandhi through and he rounded the keeper to make it 4-0.
There was still time for McDonald to go on an unbelievable mazy run through most of the Old Aberdonians team before ruining it all by blasting the ball high over the goal and almost into the river!
An excellent response after Wednesdays defeat and a performance which will make it hard for those missing today to get back into the team for the Scottish Cup game v Mill Inn next week.
