With games in hand on the top 3, Cowie were back to league business today knowing they had to get 3 points to keep the early pressure on those teams.
Cowie started the brighter and went 1-0 up after 13 minutes when a through ball from Gazelle found McDonald, with MS claiming offside he continued through and beat the keeper at his near post.
Cowie had further chances with Lovick hitting the underside of the bar with a header and Smithy hitting the bar with a free kick, but as so often this season they failed to kill the game off and it was just 1-0 at half time.
In a repeat of last weeks game, Cowie never got going 2nd half and had to withstand pressure from MS who will feel they should have scored a goal or two with the the chances they had, however Cowie had further chances to increase the score on the break but the MS keeper made some good saves.
A hard fought win which wasn’t pretty at times but the effort from the whole 16 cannot be faulted and in the end it’s 3 points and another clean sheet to move onto next week.
