East Kilbride RR 3 - 1 Cowie Thistle
Cowie exit the Scottish Cup at the QF stage as East Kilbride took their chances to decide a close cup tie.
East Kilbride started the brighter as they moved the ball forward quickly and Cowie lived dangerously for the first 10 minutes but slowly settled into the game and as the half went on created 4 great chances with balls into the box but each free header wasn't converted, or even put on target.
As the half came to a close Cowie conceded in the 40th minute when a corner was put in at the near post.
Worse was to follow though as a minute before half time another corner wasn't dealt with and the ball fell to the EKRR forward who tapped in.
Feeling hard done by to be 2-0 down at HT Cowie came out brightly at start of 2nd half and were putting EKRr under pressure and had a great chance to equalise on 55 minutes when Bucks shot from edge of the box hit the post, the rebound fell to Salmond to finish but a defender cleared off the line.
This proved pivotal as EKRR got a corner 5 minutes later, the ball wasn't cleared properly again and the EKRR No.11 had all the time in the world to get the ball out wide and cross and the ball was finished at the back post.
Cowie chased the game for the last half hour, maintaining most of the ball, hitting the post again through Duke before getting a goal back in 84 minutes when good work by substitutes Knowles & Young led to CAMMY finishing from the edge of the box.
EKRR held out fairly comfortable for the last 5 minutes though to progress to the semi-final
A game closer than the score suggests but if you concede from 3 corners and dont take your chances you won't win anything, let alone a Scottish Cup QF.
