Cove Thistle 2 - 2 Cowie Thistle
Bit of a battle tonight but a tough one to take tonight as lost 2 points in the last minute.
Playing down the slope first half Cowie had the much better chances but couldnt take any, not really testing the keeper with some poor finishing and decision making in final third, as the first half ended goalless
Into the 2nd and Cove took the lead in 60 minutes when the ball was given away on the edge of the box and the striker ran through to score.
Cowie equalised 5 minutes later when Irvs flick on was controlled by McDONALD and as the keeper came out to meet him the two collided and the ball ended up in the net.
Cove came close when a Thomson headed back pass was superbly saved one handed by Jarvie and Cowie took a deserved lead in 73 minutes when McDonald was clearly fouled in the box and BADGER sent the keeper the wrong way from the penalty.
Cove were then reduced to 10 men in the 80th minute as the defender was sent off for a wild lunge on Knowles and 5 minutes later should've been down to 9 when the striker made an even worse challenge on McDonald but was somehow only booked.
Cove took advantage of this let off in the 88th minute as once again Cowie gave the ball away in the middle of the park, one through ball to a striker who was offside, it wasn't given and he finished to equalise.
Cowie still had a chance to win the game straight from kick off but after superb play on the wing Irvs cross couldn't be converted at the back post and the game finished in the dark 2-2.
Yet again cant fault the effort, better team for the 90 but soft goals and too many missed chances. Story of the season.
