Once again we started slowly, tentative and timid. Catton came to win and wanted every ball more than we did.
We gave away some sloppy goals as a result of not tracking runners and not working hard enough up and down the pitch then heads dropped which was disappointing to see, we need to stay strong when conceding to come back into games.
We had a chat at half time and we all agree we need to work harder, change formation, push further up the pitch and play with more confidence...much improved, well done.
Whilst we lost the second half 1-0 we created plenty of chances, some we were unlucky to miss, some good saves from their goalie and a lack of confidence in front of goal; we need to take those chances!
Having said that I was very pleased with Zee,Will and Luca for playing in defence today particularly second half where we were better with 3 at the back and I would also mention Kenzie who created plenty second half and worked well up and down the left flank.
Some good effort to get back into the game reflected in the ratings.
Next week, we have two training sessions to work on a number of things;
? playing out from the back
? Taking chances
? Decision making of when to pass and dribble
? Set pieces (defending and attaching)
We will only take 14 players into the first league game and I will base this on today’s match training application. I hope we can step our game up and play like we did at Bacton a few weeks ago where we won 7-0.
We have all learnt a lot again today, forget the result and look forward.
