The team welcomed Bitton AFC girls to a sunny Cobham. Still no Mya or Sadie and the latest unfortunate Covid withdrawal for the match this week was Annabel.

A sloppy start by the team, lacking cohesion and struggling to get their game going. The visitors started in a similar manor which made for a bitty 20 minutes. Juniors only real effort was a clever free kick, Megan striking the inside of the goalpost with a guided shot before the visitors struck the first goal of the game with their only real chance (0-1). Holly and Bobbi came on for the next period and made an immediate impact, Holly slotting from Bobbi’s assist(1-1). The goal did little to lift the team and a tame first half ended with the scores level.

The second half showed a more determined team, the girls flicked through a couple of gears and goal scoring chances resulted. Bobbi’s shot was saved, Summer had an effort just wide before Bobbi’s corner found Carly in space to nudge a header into the corner of the goal (2-1). Throughout the second half the girls had several chances to take the game away from their opposition but they were not clinical enough and good chances were squandered. As happens in this game a lot, they were made to pay, an excellent volleyed finish from a corner flying into the net (2-2). Another couple of good chances to claim the win went begging and Megan again hit the goalpost when looking certain to score. They could not affect the score line and the Halloween spoils were shared.

Summary: A good third period from the team but overall a below par performance to what the team are capable of. A spirited display from the visitors gave them a well earned point. On to the next one!
