Easter Meg Blows Away COVID Cobwebs!

Back to football with a league game prior to big Dorset and Hampshire Cup games on the horizon!

The team showed focus and intent in putting this game to bed in a blistering first 10 minutes of play. With only 2 mins on the clock, Charlotte’s cross was finished

by Megan (1-0). Another Meg finish from Bobbi’s assist (2-0), followed by Bobbi claiming a third with her cross shot (3-0) left the visitors somewhat bewildered! They did show resilience from that point on to be fair and heads did not drop but they struggled to deal Megan’s ability and eagerness to stamp her mark on the game and a well taken curling hat-trick goal (4-0) gave the team a healthy half time advantage.

HT 4-0

Not surprisingly, with the points wrapped up, the parity rule in full effect and positions rotated, the second period began at a slightly slower pace. A ‘pick-me-up’ was needed and they got exactly that through a route one goal from KBS, a quality finish out of the reach of Millie (4-1). The goal seemed to rattle the team and for a few minutes the oppositions’ tails were up and Juniors’ needed to clear heads. It was soon back to business however with the girls’ now pushing for more goals, Lauren tapping home after good work from Carly (5-1), Meg smashing her fourth (6-1) and Kaitlyn showing her quality from outside of the penalty area (7-1). With the parity rule, the girls’ were playing against two extra players! In truth, a gulf in class was now showing and another Megan strike (8-1), her fifth!, Kaitlyn’s next with another from distance (9-1) and a few good saves thrown in, the team coasted home to a comfortable win.

Summary:

A quiet watch for Millie today, Mya taking the big hits and Eva looking cultured in the heart of defence. Annabel, going quietly about her buisiness, Lauren and Summer, sure in their defending and attacking alike. Faye and Abi both solid, Sophie and Kaitlyn pulling the strings, Charlotte and Bobbi supplying the ammunition for Carly and Meg etc, etc, etc ....basically, just a very good feeling to be back! Well done team!

FT: 9-1.

POM: Megan (electric!)
