Juniors’ Cruise Into Next Round Of Cup.
After two weeks without a match, a full squad of 16 were selected for this cup clash.
A determined start set the tone for a dominant display from the team. After a couple of half chances, space was created in the channel for Kaitlyn to receive the ball from Bobbi and crash a stunning shot into the top left hand corner of the goal (1-0). Brooke was next to profit from quick passing, Carly’s assist dispatched with ease (2-0). A relentless 20 minute spell for the visitors saw them fall further behind from a coaches dream team goal, a left to right move beginning with Eva and ending with Bobbi’s clinical finish into the bottom corner (3-0), her first goal after a welcome return to the team. A second assist from Carly lead to Charlotte calmly slotting home (4-0).
A brilliant first half from the team, constantly rotated and adapting to new positions.
HT 4-0
With the game won in real terms by half time, a naturally slower start to the second half was brought to life by Abi’s first goal for the team. Picking the ball up on the halfway line, driving straight through several challenges to teammate shouts of ‘keep going Abi!’, she really did keep going, into the penalty area and calmly finishing (5-0). Two clever finishes from Carly, both from Megan assists (7-0), followed by Charlotte’s second (8-0) after good work again from Brooke. Now in the final minutes of the match, a final goal, Faye showing her class, moving the ball onto her left foot and curling her shot into the bottom corner of the net......squeals of delight from her teammates and a smile from the goal scorer ?? for her first of the season (9-0).
Summary.
A tough morning for City Ladies today with a Juniors’ team ‘at it’ from the first whistle! Some outstanding goals but this result was built on an outstanding defensive performance from the girls which meant for a quieter game for Millie. Eva, superb at centre back and equally good displays from Mya, Annabel, Lauren, Lucie and Summer laid the foundations for a team to attack in numbers.....and score in numbers!!
Well done ladies!
