Away league match

A double header match...2 halves of 40mins, each half counting as a complete match.

1st half (match).

The team had started matches well in recent times and today was no different, early territorial advantage forcing a succession of early corners. Not a great pitch for low driven corners as the team have been practicing however, the first goal coming through the right channel with Summer playing in Carly to score (1-0). Cut and paste, same combination, great pass and finish (2-0). Three more goals followed, Brooke slotting home (3-0), Megan finishing calmly from Mya’s astute pass (4-0) and Kaitlyn’s goal sandwiched between the two (5-0). It’s easy to get complacent when having most of the play and a gutsy Netley team did manage to break free although Millie stayed strong to save well.

Match score 5-0.

2nd half (match).

Much like the first half but a step up in quality!

A plucky Netley team were mostly chasing shadows for 40mins. Megan was the main beneficiary, scoring 4 goals aided by Emily, Sophie and Kaitlyn, some very good finishes from good approach teamwork.

A sweet Kaitlyn hit, Eva coolly slotting home and Emily mopping up after sustained pressure all added to the total. The team seemed determined to see Summer bag her first goal for the team and after a succession of near misses and good goalkeeping she swept home for the biggest cheer of the day!

Match score 8-0.

All in all, a very good day, this team ask a lot of question of their opponents, enjoy their football and generally reap the rewards, never disrespectful however. Netley showed enough to say with the right coaching they have the sporting attitude to kick on and be a force in time, good luck to them in the future.

On a pitch that resembled a ploughed field rather than a football pitch, Juniors’ produced again though and were worthy of the points.
