Match Report - Southampton WOMENS U13 - 28 Sep 2019

Well, what a difference a week makes!! After an early start and a bit of traffic all the girls arrived at the ground with enough time to change into our yellow and black away shirt.

Right from the off it was clear that Southampton were a quality outfit with strong attacking runners. All the girls seemed up for the challenge and were prepared for the physical battle. Meg up top was causing them havoc and created the opening goal for Charlotte after 6 minutes. Southampton equalised a few minutes later and what ensued was a stellar half of football. Our back line along with the midfield adapted to the threat and were fantastic, and we approached half time deservedly 4-1. Unfortunately we failed to clear our lines twice in quick succession.... 4-3 HT.

As Paul stated, the first half was a great game, but the second half was all about us! The 4-5-1 formation really suited us, giving our Centre midfielders more freedom and they showed their quality. All the girls did what was asked of them, wide players working hard defensively but also being a real threat going forward. Our lone Centre forward working tirelessly and our defence solid as a rock ??Milly pulled off a great save to her left midway through the second half, which could have given Southampton some hope. Instead, we created wave after wave of goal scoring opportunities, converting 3 and showing everyone what we are made of. 7-3 Final score. Some really outstanding performances, bring on the next game!!!
