vs Kettering All Stars First

Away league match

This report shall be very brief and I'm sure the goal times, subs etc are a little inaccurate. However, the important thing is the result - the 5-1 loss, not the fine detail.

(The report is definitely not short due to the loss, we can accept defeat any time and be dignified in this also, the report is short due to the manager Kev McBlain being absent from the game, so the usual lenghty report is impossible)

Locos knew going into the game that they were facing their toughest opponents to date on paper and it seems they quickly discovered this off paper also. The referee didn't turn up which caused a delay in kicking off. This should not have had an effect on the performance, but it appears it may have.

From what I have been told by every single player and stand in manager Gareth McBlain is that the players attitudes were shocking from the off. The team realised they were in a tough game very early on and didn't show the desire or character to warrant 3 points.

If a team doesn't show up wanting to battle hard and fight at any level of football, they will be punished, and if they arent, then they should count themselves very lucky. Unfortunately for Locos, they were well and truly beaten for the above reason(s).

Dean Clark scored the only goal of the game for Locos. Scott Brady swinging in the corner for Dean to header in.

Man of the Match was Kev Watson. One of the very few players that did actually roll his sleeves up and battle, as he always does.

Thankfully for Locos, the damage isn't too severe as table toppers Siam tasted their first defeat of the season also. This leaves 4 teams on 12 points in Division Four. Siam, Locos, All stars and Ravens. The battle is well and truly on now.

Locos were definitely brought back down to earth this weekend and now have a couple of weeks to rest, recover and get this out of their system.

Next up is a league cup tie at home to Wilby Reserves on 20th October.

Massive improvement needed all round and I hope the players are ready to give their performance of the season next time out to show they can respond to setbacks.
