vs Corby Trades & Labour FC First
Home league match
Locos welcomed Trades & Labour for the third and final time this season. Locos had been victorious in the previous two, so it was the last chance for Trades and Labour to get some revenge.
From the off Trades & Labour were the better team. They were winning every first ball, every second ball, they were battling all over the park and had good balance to their team. Solid defenders at the back throwing themselves into everything, a wise head in Girvan in the middle of the park who went about his work effortlessly and effectively and Jamie McKimm up top who held the ball up well and was laying it off with ease for his wingers. Quite simply, Locos didnt have the same level of tenacity to match Trades and Labour in the first half. The visitors got their deserved goal after 35 minutes. A high cross from the left hand side was timed perfectly by Ryan McKimm as he volleyed the ball in the bottom corner. Half time couldnt some soon enough for Locos as they strolled off the park with their heads down ... and rightly so.
An angry half time team talk sparked some life into Locos and they equalised 2 minutes into the second half. Dean Clark sent a perfectly weighted through ball to Brad who still had work to do ... he controlled the ball in the box and calmly rolled it in to the far corner to make it 1-1.
Then it was a case of who wanted it most. The battles that we had in the previous games were on show yet again and all players rolled their sleeves up and got stuck in. Locos had came to life and began to throw everything they had at Trades and Labour who were defending for their lives ... and very well indeed.
On - Chilly and Den
Off - Chris and Scott McBlain
The two full backs made a good impact and bombed forward well, particular Chilly down the right flank who was joining in every attack.
Both teams seemed to accept that a draw was their fate until one last roll of the dice from Locos paid off. 85 minutes on the clock and a cross was sent in from the right, Sean Porch flicked it on to Sinky who composed himself in the box and smashed in the winner. 2-1. Final Score.
MOM - Scott Porch. Bombed forward second half and his pace was a nuisance for Trades and Labour to deal with. Solid at the back as always also. Well played young man.
Hard luck on the visitors who played a brilliant first half. By far the better team in the first 45. But Locos turned it on second half and battled well to seal another 2-1 win.
A great show of character from Locos. Yet again we had a stand in keeper... this time Kev Watson offered his services. Another important win to keep up the pace of the top 3.
Next up is a home match against league leaders Siam who seem to be scoring for fun week in week out. A tough test ahead.
We go again #hardworkpaysoff
