After last week's disappointment of a no show it was nice to have this week's fixture go ahead. This was quickly short-lived as from minute one the game was slow, boring, scrappy and extremely painful to watch. No teams had any rhythm whatsoever which led to a disgustingly dull opening period. Despite this, Pegasus actually created 2 clear cut chances which were squandered. The first being from Colin Thow who couldnt find the net from 12 yards, the second being from Andy Silley who missed the target from close range. Both teams cancelled each other out for the remainder of the half making it a very uninspiring 45 minutes. HT 0-0.
Second half a change of formation was made for Pegasus. 4-3-3 being the weapon of choice. The plan was to take the game to an average Higham Town team with the 3 attackers but this amounted to nothing. Again, slow, boring and lacking any real quality. Higham had a long ball tactic, but at least it was a tactic. Pegasus looked lost and un-interested. 2 full backs (Snodz and Hammell) were replaced by 2 attackers (Scott Brady and Geo) as desperation for 3 points set in, but these changes were probably too little too late as the game remained substandard. Just when acceptance seemed to set in that the game would end as a stalemate, Higham Town sent in a routine corner that was misjudged by keeper Jonny Crawford, which allowed the Higham Town player to head into a gaping net. Full Time 1-0.
Serious problems at Pegasus, failing to beat an average team yet again, no league win since the first week of October, a tremendous drop in efforts from all involved. It's clear that the main focus and priority is to remain in a 'winnable' Division Two and reshuffle the pack at the end of the campaign. Too many squad players missing week in, week out, which makes it impossible to have any consistency. (A Pegasus Reserve team that is currently a shadow of its former self to say the least)
Credit to the reliable lads that continue to turn up every single week during a horrendous run of form. The enjoyment factor has all but gone, but hopefully we have a turn of fortune as some good signings have been made to a squad that is already bursting with potential and ability. Hard work pays off and at the moment we arent working hard enough. Simple as that.
