Home league match

<p>After the disappointment of last week which seen us miss a game due to the unsporting behaviour of Irthlingborough Rangers, it was nice to actually have a team turning up and wanting to play. From minute one the attitude and desire from every single Pegasus Reserves player was outstanding. We were against the wind which didnt necessarily help but Daventry couldnt live with the tempo we set early on. The one touch passing was top notch, the hunger to chase down loose balls was fantastic and the movement from each department was brilliant. Our first goal came in the 25th minute when Snodz battled hard to keep the ball in play and sent a pass up to Thomo who then carried the ball, knocked it round the keeper and placed in between 2 Daventry defenders to make it 1-0. A well deserved goal to say the least. The fantastic spirit from Pegasus carried on throughout the first half and we were unfortunate to not grab a couple more before the break, Thomo missing a one on one opportunity after an inch perfect pass over the top from Skinner. Szabi's powerful runs enabled him to find dangerous space also, but nothing clear cut came his way. HT 1-0. After producing our best first half performance to date, it was unfortunate to witness the complete contrast of the second half. With the wind on our side it was expected to give us the necessary advantage to see the game out, however Daventry came out fighting and caused us problem after problem. Our communication was very poor which left us all over the place in terms of positioning. A horror show for large parts of the final 45. Daventry got the equalising goal after finding some crucial space down the right flank and sending a powerful low drive across the face of the goal, John Hammell (who was introcuded for Hoggy) done his utmost best to keep the shot out but unfortunately knocked it into his own net. A deserved goal for Daventry after taking advantage of our sloppy play. The reaction of conceding this goal was impressive and we battled hard to find the winning goal which eventually came after a clever little flick from Daniel Loughran which found Thomo, who still had a lot of work to do, was able to get the ball in his stride and coolly finish the ball into the corner to make it 2-1. A late scare after giving away a clumsy free kick was all Daventry had left, but thankfully nothing came of it. Full time score 2-1 to Pegasus. Man of the Match - Lee Thomson. He stepped up and showed his class today, getting 2 crucial goals for us. Again i would like to praise our first half performance but we need to be more consistent over the 90 minute period. Its a huge win nevertheless against a team fighting hard for promotion. It puts us back in the mix and with 3 more points to be added from the Irthlingborough match, it leaves us in a healthy position to be challenging for promotion. Roll on next week away to Medbourne. Hopefully we can get another win which will complete a perfect December for us.
