Home league match

Both teams started quite sluggish and neither could find their feet for the opening 20 minutes. Pegasus Reserves had the better chances in this period, but none of them threatening the keeper. The game was turned on its head when a poor defensive back pass found Colin Thow who made no mistake in beating the Daventry keeper in a 1 on 1 situation to make it 1-0. The Daventry heads dropped after this and Pegasus began to go through the gears piling more and more pressure on the Daventry backline. in the 37th minute Vadim found himself deep on the left flank after some good build up play, he rolled the ball to Colin Thow in space 25 yards out and he unleashed a great strike to beat the keeper to make it 2-0. Just before Half Time, Pegasus were awarded a free kick 35 yards out - Steven Thain provided a great cross and Stephen Skinner ended an 8 month goal drought and produced a neat headed to make it 3-0 going into the break.
Daventry started the second half quite poorly and immediately invited Pegasus to apply even more pressure on them. The 4th goal came in the 55th minute where a deep kick from Jonny found Skinner on the right flank who crossed the ball into the 18 yard box which met Vadim who adjusted his body and guided the ball with a great first time strike lobbing the keeper. A fantastic move and goal. 4-0. The changes were then made - Alex Booth made his debut appearance coming on for Skinner as well as John Hammell, Scott Brady and Arron McGinty coming on for Gareth McBlain, Vadim Becs and Colin Thow. The many changes adjusted the pace of the game and Daventry seemed to go up a couple of gears. For the last 20 minutes they piled a lot pf pressure on the Pegasus defence, who managed to remian resilient despite gifting Daventry a handful of chances. Daventry's pressure finally paid off a couple of minutes before Full Time when they tapped in the ball after some poor defending from Pegasus.

MOM - Allan Scott. A great defensive display considering he was making his first start of the season.

Pegasus Reserves move up to 2nd place with this win which is very pleasing. The response from the opening weeks disappointment has been really good. The lads seem to have found their feet and hopefully they can go from strength to strength now. Roll on next week where we play away to Northampton Spartak.
