vs Wivenhoe Tempest Yellows

Away league match

Villas opened their account of the 2019/20 season with a dominant display against a very competent Wivenhoe tempest yellows side who came up to from the U16 league as runners up. So they were not going to be any mugs !

Hard work and good teamwork was the key to success and todays win. With instructions to stop them playing from the back and to hustle and bustle at every opportunity the team delivered a good all round performance to be proud of from front to back.

Brooksie opened his goal account with a first day hatrick , Joe scored a brace and a good performance from Belly-Telly means we have serious competition up front.

Wakey (Despite his side line promises of that elusive goal), John & Scott covered lots of ground with some nice wing play to put Tempest under pressure.

Skip and Snail delivered their usual solid, competitive midfield performance with some real quality touches.

Playing in front of a back 5 of H, Joel, Jam, Logan & JT who delivered a real team like performance with lots of talking and bringing the ball out of defence into the open spaces that developed as the game went on. SOLID.

So a long way to go but I have the scary feeling the team still have a couple more gears to go up.

First game down with 3 points in the bag but a long season ahead, so we will take each game as it comes.

Fitness looked a little slack towards the end so this weeks homework is for every player to complete 2 x 45 minute runs before next Sunday.

Also there are a few players who owe match fees, subs and / or signing on fees. You know who you are so please sort it by next Sunday.

Watch this space for info about next Sundays game, and see the mida section on here for a few phots from today.
