Away cup match
Claregate are through to the semi final of the Lester Charity Cup after a well deserved 1-0 win away to The Old Bush.
Claregate dominated much of the 1st half, creating chances and having most of the possession but the Old Bush keeper kept his side in the tie with a series of saves including a good stop from a Ben Bickley screamer. Scores at 0-0 going into half time.
Old Bush started to cause Claregate more problems in the 2nd half but the Claregate back 4 stood firm. The crucial goal came on 75 minutes when an Old Bush throw in played back to their centre half was nicked away by striker Jon Wilson who finished with a cheeky lob over the keeper. Subs used were Fraser Kerry and Jay Rumbold on for Russell West and Rodney Williams on 62 minutes and Danny Rai on for Kevin Haughton on 78 minutes. In the dying minutes the 2 subs Jay Rumbold and Danny Rai combined, almost making sure of the win with a cross from Jay finding Danny in the box who hit a half volley that their keeper was able to save. An excellent team performance with a commanding defensive display from the back 4 but it was Andrae Brown who took the man of the match award for a superb midfield display, dominating the midfield and linking play all over the pitch.
