<p>This afternoon's home friendly against Wolverhampton Sunday morning Division 2 outfit, Spills Meadow, ended in a 2-1 victory for the Claregate lads.<br style="color: #212121; font-family: wf_segoe-ui_normal, 'Segoe UI', 'Segoe WP', Tahoma, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13.3333px;" />From the off, Claregate dominated and controlled much of the first half with some of the best football the team has produced. Rodney "Trotter" Williams winning a first half penalty after tricking his way past his fullback only to be brought down just inside the box. A confident Jon Wilson scoring the resulting penalty with a neat finish. The 1-0 scoreline at half time not really doing Claregate the justice they deserved after a solid 45 minutes. <br style="color: #212121; font-family: wf_segoe-ui_normal, 'Segoe UI', 'Segoe WP', Tahoma, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13.3333px;" />The second half saw Spills Meadow improve and starting to ask questions of the back four but they stood firm, in particular Martin Perkins and Adam Goode. Spills Meadow did however win a penalty due to an unfortunate handball which they converted to bring the score level. It was to be Danny Rai's effort that won the game in the dying minutes. Some excellent work from Ste Haycock saw him pick out Danny who drilled home the winner from outside the box.Other players involved from the bench today were Lee Clutterbuck, Kevin Haughton, Ste Haycock, Simon Moses and Steven Ashwin. MOTM today was Andrae Brown, a commanding, all action midfield display.
