vs Shere Punjab Wolverhampton

Home cup match

Tonight Claregate played Shere Punjab under the lights at The Dell Stadium and managed to come from 2 goals behind, TWICE, to take all 3 points in a thrilling 7-4 game.

? 9 minutes in and Shere Punjab take the lead from a penalty. 0-1

? On 14 minutes SP whip a freekick in to go 2 goals up. 0-2

? A minute later and Kane Lewis delivers a corner to the far post where Marc "Tommo" Thomas leaps highest and nods home. 1-2

? SP win yet another penalty but hit the post and Claregate clear for a corner. SP score off the resulting corner after Claregate failed to clear and restore their 2 goal lead. 1-3

? 26 minutes in and Rodney "Trotter" Williams whips in a corner that goes straight in despite an SP defender heading it in behind his own line. Much debate post match but witnesses say it had already crossed the line. Trotter awarded the goal and not Harry Kane. 2-3 and the fight back is on.

? Another Kane Lewis corner on 30 minutes is met by the head of Nathan Garratt into Si "Stokesy" Stokes path and Stokesy nods it in. 3-3

? Keeper Craig Beale goes route one with a freekick just outside of his own box, SP let it bounce and Kyle Matthews is ready to pounce and stabs in his first of the game and Claregate's fourth. 4-3 at half time.

? 62 minutes and Claregate break with pace from an SP corner, Kane Lewis sends Kyle Matthews clear, Kyle nods it forward into his stride and slots a left footed finish in off the far post. 5-3

? SP break down the left and despite a good save from Beale, they tuck in the rebound. 5-4

? 75 minutes and Daniel "Burnzy" Burns (on for the injured Stokesy on 50 mins) delivers a pin point corner for Nathan Ratcliffe to head in his first ever goal for Claregate. 6-4

? 91 minutes gone and Claregate work a clever corner to keep possession and Burnzy again plays provider when Trotter found space on the angle of the 18 yard box and curls a superb effort right footed in off the far post. 7-4.

Although Claregate got off to an awful start, every player showed a lot of character and determinatiom to come back and earn the win. Nathan Ratcliffe earned himself man of the match with a quality midfield display. Mentions to Andy Arnold and skipper Danny Jones who drove the team on to win.

Subs used were Burnzy, Carlo Bandiera and we also welcomed back Darren Williams after lengthy absence through injury.
