Claregate's 100% home record and unbeaten start to the season remained intact this afternoon after a convincing 8-2 victory over Pendeford.
Claregate kicked off the scoring in the 15th minute when a Mark Jackson free kick was flicked on by Ben Bickley to Nathan Garratt who volleyed 1st time on the turn into the net.
4 minutes later though, Pendeford grabbed an equaliser but Claregate soon restored their lead on 24 minutes when Jon Wilson cut inside the box from the right and placed a neat finish inside the near post. Jon added another goal on 42 minutes after Ben Bickley was brought down in the area to win a penalty. Jon tucked it away to the keeper's left to make the score 3-1 going into half time.
The 2nd half continued much like the 1st when Andy Arnold found himself on the end of Max Taylor's clearance to tuck away Claregate's 4th goal on 49 minutes. A minute later Pendeford clawed a goal back but on 55 minutes a Sam Wapshott attempt was handled inside the box. Jon Wilson rounded off his hat-trick with another goal from the penalty spot. 3 goals inside the last 10 minutes made sure the result was beyond any doubt. On 82 minutes Rodney "Trotter" Williams played a one to with Tobias Elliott and drilled his finish low inside the near post. A minute later, Kevin Haughton's corner was met with a bullet header from Dale Elliott that left the keeper with no chance. Debutant Tobias Elliott rounded off the scoring, again combining with Trottet who played a through ball for Tobias to place a neat finish inside the far post from the left side of the box. An excellent team performance with some stand out individuals including Nathan Garratt, Dale Elliott and Trotter but motm went to Jon Wilson for his clinical finishing and taking his goal tally to 7 in 3 games. Other players involved from the bench and all playing an important role in the win were Thomas Banks, Steven Cater and Tobias Elliott.
