Home league match

Following a run of 4 straight league defeats, Claregate bounced back with a well deserved 6-3 win over Codsall Station.
Andy Arnold opened the scoring on 10 minutes with a drilled finish from 20 yards after Jon Wilson found him in space. Jon and Andy combined again on the half hour, Jon again supplying the ammunition for Andy to fire home from 15 yards. On 42 minutes, Jon and Andy combined yet again, this time Andy turning provider, flicking a pass into Jon's path for Jon to finish from a tight angle into the far corner. Claregate went into half time 3-0 up and looking comfortable.
On 52 minutes Codsall pulled one back with a header from a corner. Claregate restored the 3 goal gap on 66 minutes when a Craig Beale goal kick beat the Codsall defence for super-sub Sam "Woppy" Wapshott to run onto and finish with composure into the bottom corner with his 1st touch of the action. On 78 minutes Woppy added his 2nd with a fine header into the top corner following a perfectly delivered freekick from Andy Arnold. Codsall fought back though with a freekick on 81 minutes and a third goal on 85 minutes to make the score 5-3 but Andy Arnold rounded off the goal action and his hat-trick when he again combined with Jon Wilson with a series of one two passes between them leaving Andy to tap into an empty net. Subs involved today were Woppy and Kevin Haughton. MOTM went to Andy Arnold following his hat-trick and 2 assists but special mentions to Ben Bickley for his tireless workrate, Tom Banks and Nathan Garratt for solid defensive displays and Jon Wilson who looked a constant threat all game as well as linking up with Andy to devasting effect.
