CPR Do The Double Against Black Country Fusion!

With qualification from the group secured on Monday night, Claregate took the opportunity to mix things up a little for today's game with a few changes in the starting 11 and formation.

The result was a 4-2 win away to Black Country Fusion.

? 10 minutes in and Claregate take the lead when Josh Hodson delivered a peach of a cross to the far post where Stokesy headed back across goal for Kyle Matthews to lay off for Rodney "Trotter" Williams to slot home from 10 yards. 0-1

? On 27 minutes Fusion were back in the game when their forward made the most of a Claregate mix up. 1-1

? Claregate restored the lead on 35 minutes when Josh Hodson again delivered a perfect cross from the left for Trotter to repay the favour to Kyle and head into Kyle's path for an absolute piledriver from 15 yards that almost broke the net. 1-2 Half time.

? On 49 minutes Sam Wapshott, on his first full start since last season, pounced on a poor Fusion goal kick, controlled and then unleashed a shot that stayed hit right into the top corner from 25 yards in what is sure to be one of the best goals we've seen this season. 1-3

? 88 minutes and Fusion pull a goal back after a goalmouth scramble.

? Claregate restored the 2 goal lead on 89 minutes when Daniel "Burnzy" Burns found Kyle Matthews in space, Kyle beat his defender then placed a cool finish inside the far post. 2-4 Full time.

Subs used were Kane Lewis and Nathan Garratt.

A good run out for some of the lads who had not had much game time lately and another win to finish our group stage action. Man of the match went to Jon Wilson for an assured display at the back but mentions to Josh Hodson and John Goodwin who also made great contributions.

Semi final next - we'll announce our opponents as soon as the draw is made.
