Away league match

Today's gameplan was to hold a very tight defence and hope to come away with a result.

The first half went exactly as expected with a lot of pressure from the home side but was soaked up well by CHL.

At halftime we discussed that when we got a break away we didn't have enough pace to apply any real pressure ourselves, so with a change of personnel and a shift round of a couple of players we addressed that and to with good effect.

However though with just a minute into the 2nd half set piece was to be our undoing as Stonewood took the lead.

Once again Stonewood applied pressure but CHL coped well and with the breakaways had some good chances ourselves. From one of these, Nishan Bhaker did exceptionally well in stealing the ball off the home team and running through on goal with only the keeper to beat and superbly slotted past the keeper into the corner of the goal.

Moments later from a foul by the home team Dan Spelman stepped up to hit a freekick from his own half and hit with such power that the home keeper could only manage to parry the ball backwards into his own net.

CHL then soaked up more pressure as the game wore on and Stonewood became more desparate to get back into the game as the league title could depend on it and with this they moaned and complained at every challenge and were really influencing every decision by the ref and getting freekick after freekick for evry slight challenge.

Then with just 5 minutes to go Stonewood put a cross in and as Mark Gilder held his ground, the forward feeling the slightest of contact, trew himself forward and conned the ref into giving a penalty.

The penalty was then converted to level things up.

Then with just a minute of play left, the ball hit Ruhi Karadal on the arm but Ruhi had no chance of getting out of the way and his arms by his side was in no way deliberate handball and again the ref succumbed to the constant complaining of the home side and awarded a freekick on the edge of the area to which the home team scored and robbed CHL of their deserved result against one of the top teams in the division.
