Chipstead put the disappointing loss of the previous week with a workmanlike 3-1 victory against bottom of the table Kingswood Town.
Playing in very windy conditions, the Chips were stung into action when Kingswood took an unexpected lead against the run of play. Latching on to a long ball their centre forward, holding off a challenge from Seb slotted past an advancing Nico.
Immediately after the restart, Chips pushed forward and Aydan, assisted by Sonny made it 1-1 with an excellent finish.
Despite the majority of possession, Chipstead found it difficult to create ckear goal scoring chances. At the other end Nico produced an excellent save leaping to his left to prevent the Kingswood 22 from putting them ahead.
With Nathan stretching the Kingswood defence through his mazy runs and excellent passing, Chipstead went ahead through a well taken shot by Jack. The score was further increased when Aydan score his second just before half time with a close range shot after his two previous efforts were blocked.
Going in at half time with a 2 goal cushion, the Chipstead supporters could be forgiven for thinking that Chipstead would extend their lead even further in the second half. Alas, thiss was not to be. A combination of solid defending by Kingswood and the rotating of the subs due to the cold weather made it difficult for Chipstead to create clear chances and they were restricted to long range efforts which were just off target.
Altogether, an improved performance from last week. Due to the other results on the day, Chpstead have another opportunity to challenge for promotion . Next weeks match v Teddington will be crucial and the boys will need to continue to improve in order to get a result.
