Match Report - KINGSWOOD TOWN U12 BLUES - 12 Jan 2019

Chipstead returned to winning ways with a workmanlike performance against bottom of the table Kingswood who had suffered a 11-2 defeat in their previous match.

Despite the lions share of possession and good passing play, the Chips struggled to produce clear scoring chances in the first quarter of the match. After two relatively straightforward opportunities to score were missed, it appeared that a similar outcome to Chipstead's last match was on the cards. Indeed it took a fine save from Nico to prevent Kingswood taking an undeserved lead.

Finally, the deadlock was broken in the 21st minute when Sonny, playing in a midfield role, slotted through a fine pass to release Aydan who scored from a left footed shot.

Despite this setback, Kingswood redoubled their efforts and began to put Chipstead under sustained pressure. The home side were fortunate to retain their lead when a snap shot from their opponents got a deflection and skimmed the top of the Chipstead bar.

The second half began with a double substitution and a change of formation with Sonny moving back to his centre back role. Defensively more solid, Chipstead soon doubled their score when a pass from Arthur was taken forward by Aydan who put a low right footed shot past the Kingswood keeper's left.

Following their second goal, Chipstead continued to dominate the play but the expected goal rush failed to materialise.

Overall, a solid performance, a three match losing streak broken but plenty to work on in next weeks training.
