Match Report - ASHTEAD COLTS ATHLECTIC U12 - 8 Dec 2018

Chipstead's cup run came to a sorry end on a heavy pitch losing heavily 5-1 to Ashtead. Poor passing and slack marking led to Chipstead's demise with little evidence of the determination and fight that was so evident in their previous match. Once again Chipstead were guilty of trying to play the ball through the middle rather than using the wings and attacks were quickly broken up by their opponents who then countered through their quick strikers. After going behind 2 nil in the first half, any thoughts of a comeback were dashed almost immediately after the break when Ashtead scored their third when Chipstead failed to clear a ball into the box from the right. Further goals followed and at 5 nil down Chipstead looked unlikely to score. However in the last minutes of the game Chipstead finally started to put some passes together and Nathan got onto the score sheet assisted by Freddie. Chipstead then had another chance in the final minute but running in from the left, Aidan shot wide. A harsh lesson which the boys will need to process and hopefully bounce back from next week.
