Out Of Sorts Chipstead Beaten By Woodmansterne

Despite great performances in the previous two games, Chipstead's high tempo play was missing in this match. Apart from Nathan the rest of the team struggled to put passes together or get shots away.

As so often as happened this season the Chips lethargy in the early part of the game resulted in them going one down in the 2nd minute.

A nasty foul on Seb which wasnt spotted led to a lengthy time away from the game which meant the team had to regroup.

After 10 mins Chips began to regain control of midfield largely through Nathans excellent passing.

In the 14th minute Chipstead earned the deserved equaliser when a stronger shot from Nathan outside of the box was fumbled by the oppositions keeper and crept into the net.

Heartened by this Chipstead continued to press and create chances. Tiago broke through the centre but with the goalkeeper to beat was well off target. A further 2 long range strikes by Nathan were then both tipped onto the bar by Woodmansternes impressive keeper to prevent his hat-trick.

At the other end Woodmansterne were dangerous on the break and a combination of poor defending and back luck led to the opposition scoring twice before half-time.

Hopes of salvaging a point became a possibility when Roger reduced the deficit 20 mins into the second half after a goalmouth scramble. However Chipstead failed to energise themselves to get another goal back despite a raft of substitutions to try to mix up play.

A late 4th goal from Woodmansterne 5 mins from time ended a lacklustre performane on the day.

Manager Paul and Coach Dan will look to refocus the boys minds to next Saturdays cup semi-final when hopefully an improved performance will achieve progression to the final.
