Chips Return To Winning Ways.

After a two week layoff without a competitive game Chipstead eventually were comfortable winners against bottom of the table Raw Skills.

A number of changes with players being asked to play in unfamiliar positions resulted in a somewhat unbalanced team performance in the first half. Nevertheless Chipstead deservedly opened the scoring with a well taken strike by Tiago.

Home supporters who were expecting the opposition to then capitulate were then stunned to see Raw Skills equalise from Chipstead's inability to clear a ball from the box.

Chipstead's failure to be more ruthless in front of goal together with their midfield which frequently failed to pass the ball into danger areas then allowed Raw Skills into the game and they were unlucky to have a goal disallowed for off-side.

However, Chipstead were able to get their noses back in front when Aydan broke through the centre and toe poked the ball past the Raw Skills keeper.

Half time saw a change in formation with Aydan moving to centre back and Ashton reverting back to his role as midfield playmaker. With Nathan also coming on, the difference was immediately noticeable as Chipstead began to create opportunities for the strikers to exploit.

Within 4 mins of the restart Chips extended their lead with a second goal from Tiago assisted by Nathan. A fine strike from distance then netted Tiago his hat trick before Jack switching to a striker role put in a pinpoint low cross for Nana to score Chipstead's fifth.

Overall an improved team performance against a team who, although bottom of the table, refused to give in.

Hopefully the game has enabled Chipstead to shake off the rustiness which was inevitable afrer 2 weeks of no football.

A sterner challenge awaits with next weeks match against ESPA. A win would be a great confidence boost ahead of the Presidents Cup Final and would end their opponents ambitions of winning the league title this season.
