Home league match
Three goals in four minutes saw Chipstead overcome Moor Mead to take their first three points of their league campaign.
As in previous matches Chipstead initially found it hard to create goal scoring chances and inevitably were punished after 25 min when their back four were unable to defend a ball over the top. The Moor Mead striker ran onto the ball and when Nico came out took the ball around him and cooly slotted home.
Chips were back on level terms when awarded a penalty after the ball struck a Moormead defender on the hand. The spot kick was duly despatched by Tiago into the corner of the net.
Despite equalising Chipstead were soon down again as Moormead put their disappointment behind them. A change of tactics in moving their midfielder further forward proved effective as he restored Moormead's lead.
Moormead then extended their lead further when their right winger cut inside to slot the ball home beyond Nico's reach.
At this point, to most of the onlookers there appeared to be only one winner with even a draw being perhaps beyond most Chipstead supporters expectations.
However, a tactical change in moving Tiago to lead the attack soon proved to be the turning point in the match. Straight away he began to pressure the Moormead defence and inevitably pulled a goal back with a thumping shot which gave the Moormead keeper no chance.
Soon after Chipstead drew level when Tiago drew the opponents defence out of position leaving Nathan to exploit the gap to finish in the far corner.
At this point Moormead were just about hanging on and their passing game crumbled with their players resorting to hacking the ball away.
Finally, Chipstead completed the turn around when Tiago burst into the area and was clattered by the Moormead keeper. Picking himself up, Tiago smashed home the resultant penalty.
Despite a Moormead freekick which skimmed the bar, the Chips held on to eventually take their first league win of the season.
A fantastic match to watch. Hopefully the boys will now take heart from this win and crack on to achieve more wins and advance up the league table over next few weeks.
