We Crash Out 1st Round Of The Cup

After last weeks draw, we turn our attention to the league cup which sees us up against Banstead Eagles. It was the visitors who struck early after winning the ball in midfield and a hopeful ball through to the Banstead striker who netted and made it 1-0. We got our act together and was moving the ball well although the organised Banstead kept their shape and numbers behind the ball limiting chances. Best chance for Cheam come from good work down the right from Fiesty and Draper which saw a low cross met by Joe who produced a good save from the Banstead keeper. Apart from the goal, it was mostly Cheam trying to find a equaliser but couldn’t create too many clear cut chances.

A few half time subs saw the introduction of Gary, Tom and Owen but it was the same story of Cheam trying to probe for an equaliser but again Bansteads shape limited chances. Throwing everything at Banstead in the final minutes with Lee being thrown up top, we had a last ditch chance in the final moments of the game with Joe’s strike producing a great save from their keeper and the rebound falling to Matt who’s attempt produced an even better save from the Banstead keeper. Game finished 1-0 to a Banstead side that kept their shape, defended well and game managed effectively. We need to get our act together quickly and get back to winning ways as quickly as possible.
