A huge sigh of relief in the end as we survive a poor second half performance to come away with the W.
The supply teacher (or Dad to one player) was in charge with the gaffer having slipped off to watch the NFL, the pressure was on to keep the team in winning form and secure all three points.
We started off quick out the blocks, with Jay and Luke causing problems in attack. 6 minutes in, Jay was able to fight off the defender and pass through to Luke who was able to poke the ball in from close range, 1-0 Cheam.
The game then went stale for 30-35 minutes, turning scrappy which then invited the oppo onto us. Luckily we were let off by poor finishing and a good reaction catch by Drucey from point blank range.
40 minutes played and we broke forward for our second, Jay playing Luke through who slotted for his second who then added his third and completed his hat trick from the spot after Matt had been fouled. 3-0 HT
The start of the second half was poor from us. We completey let our hold on the game go and Brentford punished us. A free kick leaving Drucey helpless, a second (never crossed the line) and third to level all within a 10 minute spell completely rocked us.
We had to fire ourselves up again, three points was a must after leading 3-0. James Bale was able to pick the ball up on the right and knock it past two players (Bale vs Maicon), running their whole half and after a bit of pinball in the 6 yard box, slot home for our fourth and his first goal for the club.
Luke was able to flick in a cross in the 90th minute for Matt to head home from close range (his 2nd in as many games) to seal all three points for us. 5-3 FT. UTC ??
