vs Centrals

Home league match

INDIES got their season off and running from the opening game with an ultimately conclusive 4-1 victory against what appeared to be an under-strength Centrals.

However the Indies performance was initially rather disjointed - a number of new players and an unfamiliar formation contributing.

Sadly defensive chaos led to the opening goal for Centrals - after 10 minutes of solid Indies pressure Centrals scored with their first venture into our half, after no less than three clearances were struck against our own players.

Indies went back to dominating proceedings without looking too likely to score, until eventually debutant Gavin Fitch got the corner delivery spot on and Jordan Gallienne applied a typical headed finish at the back post.

HT 1-1

After the traditional rocky 10 minutes for Indies post-restart, again we gained the ascendancy and waited to score.

This time it was substitute Chris Northey, producing a man of the match display in centre midfield, who drove forward and fired home from 25 yards. The bench erupted and we thought that we were probably, at last, home and dry.

Rob Priaulx wasn’t really troubled again in our goal, although Dan Gallienne made one vital clearance at the back post, before Jordy Gallienne made the points safe with another close-range finish from a Finch corner.

Finch went from provider to finisher shortly before the end, to complete a comprehensive 4-1 victory taking Indies to the top of the nascent Division Three table (for 48 hours anyway!)
