Pelham Labour To Victory Again!

Casuals and Pelham made it 2 wins from 2 but laboured to a win again! After a good result but disappointing performance last week, Pelham were hoping for an improvement this week, however with a bit of a makeshift 11 it wasn't going to be easy. Pelham made a slow start and Newport were looking the better of the two sides. However it was a first half of limited chances for both sides. Jamie Richards probably had Pelhams best opportunity in the first half but couldn't find the back of the net! Newport took one of their only chances in the first half as they scored direct from a freekick with about 10 minutes left of the half to make it 1-0. Tim Shaw did have the ball in the Newport net 5 minutes later but it was ruled out for offside. 1-0 is how it stayed for the remainder of the half and the away side went into the break with the lead! Pelham needed a quick in the second half and that is exactly what they got. Three minutes into the second half, Parrish but a ball through for Shaw who then poked it past the keeper to make it 1-1, just what the home side needed. 1-1 became 2-1 shortly after as the same two linked up again, Parrish playing Shaw in again who coolly finished once more making it 2-1. Pelham started to play better in the second half, and Newport lost their way a little and their heads as they contested every decision against them. Pelham continued to take advantage of this as Parrish latched on to a defensive mistake and rounded the keeper before slotting the ball into the net, 3-1 to Pelham. 3-1 became 4-1 with Jamie Richards getting in on the act! Newman finding Richards on the right who managed to squeeze the ball over the line. Arran came on with just over 10 minutes left and made an instant Impact. Parrish again being provider, this time finding Arran in the box who smashed the ball home making it 5-1 to Pelham. With 10 minutes left Pelham got complacent and took their eye off the game as Newport bagged a late flurry of goals. Firstly a free header at the back post made it 5-2 and then a second goal right at the death made the scoreline a bit more respectable at 5-3. Ultimately it was too late for Newport and Pelham won the game 5-3. Once again, not the best of performances again but another win, however we have to get the performances on track soon before we end up paying for it! Today's man of the match had a few contenders, but with 3 assists and a goal this week it goes to Rob Parrish!
