<p>Casuals and Pelham got back to winning ways after a tough few weeks by beating Newport FC 3-0 at home. Pelham have really been struggling with injuries over the last few weeks but with players starting to come back and some new/old faces coming back in to the fold they should be in good stead over the next few weeks. Pelham took an early lead with just one minute on the clock as a free kick was whipped in from a wide area on the left which was met by the head of Steve Phillips, scoring with his first touch on his debut to make it 1-0 to the home side. From there it was a fairly even game, with Newport probably just edging proceedings in the first half. However they failed to create any real clear cut chances and the ones they did they couldnt take, so the scoreline stayed at 1-0 after the first half. Pelham took over control in the second half and started to see a lot more of the ball and play how we know they can. However they didnt double the lead until the 80th minute. Ant Hamilton-Pilot on his return played a great ball through to Cal Lynskey who managed to outpace the defender and slot past the keeper making it 2-0. Two minutes later Antonio was fouled about 45 yards from goal giving Pelham a long range freekick. Mark Jolley stepped up to try his luck and whipped the ball in to the top of the net making it 3-0 and pretty much game over. That is how the scoreline stayed and Pelham managed to bag the 2 points and a clean sheet, largely down to another fantastic display from Dan Monk in goal and some solid defending from Steve Phillips on his Pelham debut, as well as the other boys at the back. Good win today boys and some vital points. Some big games coming up in November with opportunities to pick up some wins, and hopefully with players coming back we can push ourselves up the league before christmas. Micks man of the match goes to Steve Phillips who had a solid debut at the back and set Pelham on their way ot victory with the all important first goal.
