vs Green Man Athletic FC
Home friendly match
Casuals and Pelham earned a 3-1 win in their final game before their Charity Salver cup final. Green Man Athletic FC from the Harlow league were the opponents for this friendly and gave the home side a good run out before next Thursday evening. Both teams started brightly and it was a fairly even game. However it was the away side who struck the first blow with literally their only chance of the first half to make it 1-0. That seemed to give Pelham a bit more urgency and they started to create a few more chances. Daniels and Knights came close before Pelham finally pulled one back. Those two were involved with the former laying on the assist for Knights to stab the ball home and score his first goal for the club. Pelham continued to create chances but both teams went in tied at 1-1 at the half. Pelham started the second half brightly and looked the more likely team to take the lead and win the game, Pelhams half time subs particularly making an impact. It was the home side who took the lead after the break with Dan Boyce crossing first time on the right hand side to Steve Callan in the box, who took the ball down well and finished calmly. 2-1 soon became 3-1 with Callan this time becoming provider for Knights second goal of the game and second goal for Pelham. At 3-1 Green Man Athletic looked defeated and Pelham played the rest of the game out pretty comfortably, dominating most of possession and chances of the remaining game. The game finished 3-1 and Pelham had managed to get a good preparation in before next Thursdays final. Man of the match goes to Steve Callan who had a big impact when coming on and managed to bag himself a goal and assist within those 45 minutes.
