vs Albury Saints FC
Home league match
Casuals and Pelham recovered from the disappointment of losing the charity salver plate to put in a solid performance and beat Albury Saints FC 3-1 at home in the league. With Pelhams big game for the season gone the pressure was well and truly off with only two league games left and it showed. Pelham were very quick out of the blocks and straight away put the away side under pressure. It payed off and the home side took the lead through a Charlie Daniels solo effort. He picked up the ball on the left hand edge of the box and dribbled his way through four Saints defenders making his way over to the right hand side before slotting it past the keeper. Daniels soon turned provider to double Pelhams lead as he made a good run down the left flank and cut the ball back to Dan Arran in space in the box for the tap in, 2-0 to Pelham. The home side continued to dominate the ball and created yet more chances, coming close to scoring through various players with Daniels, Arran, White and Boyce all testing the Saints keeper. However they couldn't find a third goal before the half and went in to the break 2-0 up. The second half started as the first ended, with Pelham in control and pushing for a third goal, once again they came close on numerous occassions most notable Daniels with the biggest chance of the game before the Saints defender came out of nowhere with an unbelievable block. With Saints hardly testing the monk in goal it was a surprise when they managed to get the next goal of the game, especially with all the chances Pelham had, to make it 2-1 and set up a nervy finish. However Pelham were still pushing for more and even from the kick off after the away sides goal Daniels went for goal from kick off and very nearly caught the keeper out off his line. The game was finally put to bed in the 90th minute as some good neat play on the edge of the box between White, Daniels and Boyce saw the ball break to Daniels who's little lay off found Boyce storming towards goal and he managed to slot it past the keeper to make it 3-1. That would be the last real play of the game and Pelham ran out well deserved 3-1 winners. A good solid performance all round and any one of the 14 man squad could have been man of the match. However it goes to Dan Arran who had a fairly simple but solid performance, playing some simple football and capping it off with a goal.
