Away friendly match
<p>Following two friendlies against opposition from another league, Newman travelled deep into enemy territory on Saturday to get a closer look at one of their new Division 3 rivals, Knowsley Community College. It was a straightforward trek down to Hollies Rd, where camp was set up for what was expected to be a quiet afternoon. What followed was a fierce exchange of fire as the sides traded blows in an 8-goal epic. It was the T.A - Tierney and Atkinson - who led the charge for Newman, each bagging a brace in a brilliant display of marksmanship. Unfortunately, KCC were gifted with some powerful backup from a supposed neutral force, the referee, who awarded them with three very dubious spot-kicks. Had this been a league match, the troops would have returned disconsolate. However, it was another succesful sharpening excercise, where the attack once again proved their firepower and a team with plenty of new faces notched up another useful 90 minutes together.<p>"Well played today lads...pretty poor refereeing but never mind. Really happy with the performance on an energy-sapping pitch" - Smithy
