Carbrain Clarets 2011’s travelled to the Bonny banks at Renton Park on 22 November 2025 for an early morning 10:20am kick-off in a fiercely contested Scottish cup away match against Renton 2011. The Clarets emerged victorious with a narrow 3-2 win after 80 minutes of pulsating football, overcoming adversity to secure progression.

Carbrain Clarets 2011’s lined up in a 4-4-1-1 formation, designed to balance defensive solidity with attacking flair. Archie Edgar took his place between the sticks as goalkeeper, shielded by a back four comprising Ryan Cherry at right back, central defenders Zack Graham and Daniel Abdulrahman, and Ryan Griffin operating on the left. Kai Logan stepped up to deliver a stunning direct free-kick from outside the box, curling a precise right-footed strike into the net. The assist came from Kobe Stevenson, whose delivery had drawn the foul and set up the chance, signalling the Clarets’ intent to fight back.

As the first half progressed, both sides battled hard, but the score remained 1-1 at the interval, with the Clarets showing commendable organisation despite their numerical disadvantage.

Just before the break, in the 44th minute, Carbrain Clarets took the lead for the first time. Kobe Stevenson again played a pivotal role, this time providing a short pass inside the box to Fergus Davies, who clinically finished with his right foot. This goal was a testament to the Clarets’ growing confidence and ability to exploit spaces even when down to ten men.

The second half saw the Clarets continue to press, and their efforts bore fruit once more in the 65th minute. From a corner, Fergus Davies delivered a precise ball into the danger area, which Ryan Griffin met with a powerful bullet header from close range bursting the net! . This goal extended the Clarets’ advantage to 3-1 and showcased the team’s set-piece threat.

However, Renton 2011 refused to lie down and pulled a goal back in the 80th minute through another goalmouth scramble, reducing the deficit to 3-2 and setting up a tense finale. Despite their numerical superiority and late pressure, Renton could not find an equaliser before the final whistle.

Kobe Stevenson’s influence throughout the match was undeniable, contributing both a goal and an assist, and his relentless work down the left flank earned him the player of the match accolade. Carbrain Clarets 2011’s showed tremendous character and tactical nous to overcome the early setback and a red card, ultimately securing a hard-fought victory on the road.
