Match Report - RANGE ROVERS 50+ - 04 Aug 2024

Please find below the Match Reports for the two games played on Super Sunday for our 50s and 60s League Squads.

50s Versus Range Rovers

This was a chance to experiment with line ups and tactics as well as offering a competitive game for the newest members to the squad. We should confidence with the ball and the start and played it around well however, we failed to hold our shape and kept falling deeper and deeper. When we got the press right, the opposition struggled to get out but we weren't consistent in pressing as a team and this allowed the ball to come through us and for Rovers to get in behind our midfield. We tried various things which worked to an extent but is not yet second nature and we went in a half time 2 - 0 down.

There were 2 changes made at half time and these proved beneficial. We moved the ball better and we found the space going forward as we enjoyed better possession. We got two quick goals and were back on level terms but this only lasted a minute at best. Further changes were made and setups altered to again try different things. We conceded more goals with people not intuitively covering for each other but there was also positives moving forward. Swift footwork and moving the ball found Jason free in front of goal with his hat trick beckoning. His shot went just wide but the fact that we had created such an opening on several occasions was promising.

This game has offered food for thought and will be used to base the upcoming Friday Training sessions around.
