vs Corinthian Casuals Youth Reds U15

Away cup match

Having been drawn away the CTYFC U15 Rebels made another trip along the A3 to take on Corinthian Casuals Reds in the 2nd Round of the Surrey County Cup.

We were expecting a tough battle and on a terrible pitch it was never going to be pretty. The first 30 minutes of the game proved this theory with a scrappy and physical battle ensuing with few chances created. Josh DK, JJ and Freddie were comfortable and composed in defence - seeing off the opposition attacks. James was working hard down the left but getting little space to work in. We finally broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute following good work down the right from Josh E and Hayden. Mikey took possession on the right side of the box and cut inside onto his left foot to power a shot through the keeper. In the 38th minute we won a corner following an excellent ball over the top from Josh E. Hayden floated in a good ball and an un-marked Luke slotted a firm header into the bottom corner to double our lead.

HT 2-0

A quadruple substitution at the break saw Ben, Erim, Kris and Lewis all come on, replacing Isaac, Josh E, Hayden and Zahir.

With the fresh legs in midfield we started to dominate possession and territory. We scored again in the 60th minute - Ben found Erim who found space 20 yards out and with his left foot found the bottom corner. Just 3 minutes later Erim was at it again - this time a fierce right foot shot from 25 yards finding the opposite corner.

We continued to rotate throughout the half and with Isaac back on he got his head to an excellent left wing cross from Lewis to find the top corner for 5-0. We were rampant now, Kris winning the ball back at will and driving forward to start wave after wave of attack. Isaac and Lewis showed great desire to press high and forced the keeper and defender into a mistake - the ball finding Luke to sweep home excellently from 12 yards to make it 6-0. Zahir was back on and causing havoc down the left and was unlucky to have a goal ruled out for offiside. He kept probing though and another excellent cross saw the defender unfortunately divert the ball into his own net.

FT 7-0.

An excellent offensive display in the 2nd half saw the lads play some excellent football on a difficult pitch. JJ at the heart of defence was excellent when called upon as was Freddie. Dom was solid but was rarely troubled, however remained focused throughout.

MoM

This week Josh DK and Luke get the award. Josh DK twice made excellent sliding last ditch challenges having been trusted to mark their striker 1v1 for the 2nd half and positioned himself excellently to nullify any threats.

Luke worked hard for the whole 80 minutes and linked play really well in the final third and was clinical with his chances to bag a brace.

Well done lads - we await the draw for Round 3......
