vs Ascot Utd Youth U15
Away league match
The CTYFC U15 Rebels didn't have to travel far on Sunday for another Surrey Youth League - Premier Elite fixture, as Ascot Utd hosted us for another local derby.
Our meetings with Ascot are always competitive and we expected nothing different this time around. We got off to a flying start and some early pressure saw 2 quick corners won. James saw a shot cleared which was recycled out wide by Erim who found Hayden in acres of space. His touch and cross was excellent and found Oli at he back post who powered a brave header past the keeper to open the scoring in the 3rd minute.
Erim, Kris and Zahir were busy as always and we were dominating possession, trying to switch play and feed Josh E and James out wide. Ben was on for Oli following a clash of heads when scoring his goal and he and Luke were defending from the front and not allowing their backline any respite. It was this pressure that led to Ben being fouled in the box and Freddie stepped up to cooly slot the penalty in the 25th minute for 2-0.
JJ was marshalling our defensive line with authority and Dom was assured when called upon, dealing with set pieces well without alarm. We were pushing forward and nearly made it 3 but Luke's fierce shot from just inside the box was well saved.
In time added on at the end of the first half a searching free kick from Freddie was only half cleared and fell to Josh E 25 yards out - he took a touch and unleashed a swerving rocket on the half volley that whistled past the keeper to make it 3-0 - a brilliant goal.
HT 0-3
The 2nd half saw a lot of rotation to protect the squad from injuries as a few of the lads were carrying knocks. Josh DK settled in on the right and looked composed whilst Tadi came on in the midfield and again held his own playing a year up. Lewis came on to the left and got into some good positions - pulling an effort wide of the near post. Ascot kept probing but Dom was never really troubled - our desire to keep a clean sheet evident. A few half chances came and went for us but we were comfortable with the 3 goal lead and saw the game through.
FT 0-3
Another big win and another dominant display from the squad - but it didn't come easy as they had to work hard and concentrate from the first whistle to ensure the 3 points were taken.
MoM - A tough decision again this week with so many of the lads putting in a shift - but JJ at the heart of the defence again was not letting anything past him and was immense. Also getting the award this week is Ben - his work rate was off the scale and he chased and harried absolutely everything - energising the whole team in the process.
Well done boys.
