Away cup match
Despite being drawn away for our 4th Round Surrey County Cup tie the CTYFC U14 Rebels were fortunate it was only a 10 minute journey to face Woking Cougars on the excellent new 3G pitch at Gordon’s School. We welcomed a few boys back after injury and COVID absences.
Upon arrival we were sadly greeted by news that the opposition didn’t have a full 11, but were still prepared to play. Although their keeper turned after 15 minutes, an injury reduced them back down. This obviously gave a us an advantage and the game played out this way.
The result ended up being 7-0 with Oli (3), Freddie (2), Zahir (1) and Luke (1) making up the scorers. Luke would of scored the goal of the season after an exquisite turn leaving 4 players for dead on the edge of the box, but the keeper pulled off a superb save.
As the saying goes though you can only beat what’s in front of you and the boys were professional and clinical in getting the job done to take us into the quarter finals. Huge credit to Woking though who battled and battled and created a couple of chances of their own, but Dom was in no mood to let his clean sheet go and made a few really good saves. The game ended 10 minutes early as Woking had a player injured and we felt it only right to end the game there and then.
MoM today was Luke who was a thorn in the oppositions side, he scored the opening goal and was pivotal in many attacks.
A big thank you and full credit to Woking for honouring the fixture and putting on a brave display.
