Home league match

A couple of regulars missing from the main 8 meaning Mike B was brought into the lineup for a match against an opponent we had no information on.

The lineup was: Kyle in goal, Paul and Ant at the back, Luke and JP pulling the strings in the middle and Mick up front.

KICK OFF

The game started as well as the rain, a muggy drizzly evening under the lights of Huntington and the pitch was perfectly greasy and could be a catalyst for cock ups.

A few early chances for the both teams saw good saves from both keepers. Most notably their keeper who made a smart stop from JP and another from a deflected shot later on.

But the deadlock was broken from a corner. The corner was passed to the front post and with woeful marking at the back post the ball eventually made its way across the edge of the 'D' where their player slid the ball home underneath Kyle.

Shortly after, Cafe were quite discombobulated with players out of position and with a high press from a group of quite aggressive fit lads noone really wanted the ball. The ball came to Ant who didnt get a quick enough call for MAN ON and they stole the ball high and slotted it home for 2-0 with only 8 mins gone.

They were in high spirits and despite a few half chances for Cafe it just wasn't clicking. A corner for Cafe was blocked resulting in a long ball to their danger man, he took too touches and smashed the ball into the front post, the ball was passed Kyle before he could move. 3-0, Game over?

HALF TIME: CAFE 0 - 3 MUGGA

Second half kicked off and after some refreshments and some organised chatter Cafe looked determined to make it right. Few chances came to Mugga in the second half but a few smart saves from Kyle, kept the score to 3. Some great play from Luke which saw their man trying to kick Lukes knee into the neighbouring pitch, fashioned a great opportunity which he fizzed across the 'D' for an eagerly waiting JP who successfully dispatched the effort into the bottom corner. 3-1.

Cafe kept probing and had majority of the possession in the second half with Mugga looking to hit Cafe on the counter. But Cafe kept pushing and a quick ball rolled to Luke saw him move forward with the ball and slide a perfectly weighted ball to the on rushing Mick who blasted the ball across goal into the bottom corner. 3-2.

The final minutes of the game were played completely in Muggas half and were screaming for a screamer from 20 yards out but it wasn't meant to be, the game ended with disappointment and thoughts of what could have been had Cafe been more switched on in the opening half of the game.

FINAL SCORE:

CAFE 2 - 3 MUGGA

SCORERS:

JP, MICK
