A Day To Forget!

An early start for the young bucks saw the bucks turn in an uncharacteristic performance against a very good and strong Matlock side.

The bucks came out of the blocks looking to impose their passing football on the game. However, an early goal would see the bucks fall behind early, unlike the previous week the battle and desire to fight back seemed to drain early. This was something that Matlock would take advantage of, racing into a 4-0 lead early on. A switch of formation saw Buxton change to 4-4-2. This seemed to steady the ship and the impressive Jonah was rewarded with a goal to bring the game back to 4-1. Unfortunately this was as good as it got for Buxton as another Matlock goal would see the boys heads drop and although the bucks looked to try and battle they just couldn’t stop the flow of goals. Leading to an 11-1 loss on what is definitely a day to forget.

Well done to Jonah on a deserved man of the match. His effort and continuous battling was a bright spot for Buxton throughout the game.

Managements thoughts- Today the boys seemed to lose the will to fight quite easily and looked weary throughout. Fitness may need to be worked in at training for a few weeks to get the boys up to scratch, this may also help their passing and pressing throughout a game. A positive is that the boys have played 2 good teams in their opening 4 games and only sit 1 point off top spot. A cup game next week against Wingerworth will provide an opportunity to get back on track and get the early season momentum going again.
