Arsene Hedges attended a crash course in sports psychology this week led by Dr Siegmund Murray of the Freudian School of Psychoanalysis. Critical to this way of thinking is that all players mistakes stem from traumatic childhood experiences such as being buggered by your favourite uncle! The psychiatrist makes the patient relive these painful episodes until their self esteem is all but destroyed. Then he builds the ego back up till the patient feels like a Star!! And so the Manager worked his magic today on keeper James Geddis to play like he'd been crowned King of the World!!
The first half started slowly but the Business were galvanised after Goldengloves Geddis came running out of his box to slide tackle the Xaverian winger to leave him crying for his wet nurse! The Economists began to grow into the game with world renowned author Callum Murray pulling the strings in midfield. On the left wing Prince Clag of West Derby fed Soper who ran himself ragged. Pressure eventually told when a cross into the box was rifled into his own net by the St Francis Centre back! 1 NIL BUSINESS!! A couple of goalmouth scares were dealt with by Doherty and Geddis made a fine save tipping round the post to get to the break!
HALF TIME: SFX 0 BUSINESS SCHOOL 1!!
Mitchell came on in the 2nd half for Clag and Roberts for Chipps! Meanwhile the xaverians brought on the Ghoul to spray the ball about in the centre. The clarets began moaning and fouling as is their want and put pressure on the Business Back Four. Two goals came in quick succession leaving the Economists chasing the game! BUSINESS 1 SFX 2!! But the Geordie psychologist urged his players on to Never Surrender. Erling Roper had a toe poke he should have converted and Roberts had a header saved for a corner. But the Business were not finished yet and a free kick awarded outside the box saw Gazza Bibby loft it over the Keepers head with minutes to spare. The Men in Purple stayed strong and saw the game out!
