The Business School mathematicians employed Pythagorean theorem today by taking the square root of the total of sides a and b of the triangle to get the hypotenuse.
Starting the first half with the wind did the Economists few favours as Storm Dennis played havoc with football common sense. Too often the Business overhit long balls for Swampy Richman to thanklessly chase. At left back Callum Arbuckle-Gunther acquitted himself well but elsewhere on the park it was a drab affair. Ballboy Martin Larkin lamented the use of lateral play as opposed to longitudinal play based on the Greenwich meridian. HALF TIME: RHEIN 0. BUSINESS 0!!
In the 2nd half the Gaffa brought on his impact subs to bring the game alive. Ben Pegga Peach ploughed an agricultural furrow at left back. But it was on the right hand side that the BSFC took control. Man of the Match Joe Birkett gave a Hansenesque display bringing the ball out from the back and setting up move after move. Josh Wakeman, Bibby and Richman carved out some perfect isosceles triangles to get to the edge of Rheins box. In the centre the mercurial majesty of Paul Murray complemented beautifully the heartbeat of Liam Ashley and the blunt force lead piping in the conservatory of Professor Plum Doherty. Against the run of play Rheins number 7 hit a free kick that skidded in front of Ellison and as he pushed it away it fell invitingly for Harvey Price-Yorke to take the lead. But self belief and the Managers Wengerstylee football would turn this game on its vertical head. Passion took hold as Paul MUZZA Murray tried to pick a fight with Harvey Mong Strong and Huther invaded the pitch spoiling for a fight and anotha taste of Community Payback. Yellow cards followed for Murray, serial offender Doherty, Ashley and eye gouger Bibby! It soon became clear Rhein were not up for a bundle and The Business drew level as a cross from the right was met beautifully by Timms to volley into the net. RHEIN 1.BUSINESS 1. Bibby went close hitting the bar as Murray glided past players like Bonnie Langford on Dancing on Ice. Swampy Richman then hit a speculative cross that caught a thermal current to take it into the roof of the net. With only minutes to spare Ruud Boy Timms made it 3 with a simple tap in to score his brace.
